Yeosu City Starts Senior Job Projects This Year as the Largest Scale in Jeonnam Province
Investing 21.136 Billion Won, 8,260 Participants... Full-Scale Promotion Starting from the 18th
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Yeosu City (Mayor Kwon Oh-bong) announced on the 15th that it will officially launch this year's ‘Senior Job and Social Activity Support Project’ starting from the 18th.
According to the city, this year, 21.136 billion KRW will be invested, an increase of 462 million KRW compared to last year, with 8,260 seniors participating, the largest scale among the 22 cities and counties in Jeollanam-do.
Applications for participation in the senior job (social activity) project were accepted from the 7th of last month, resulting in 11,124 applicants, 1,417 more than the previous year, recording an average competition rate of 1.3 to 1.
Participants will be active in 37 implementing organizations including private executing agencies and eup/myeon/dong offices. Public interest activities will last 11 months, social service types 10 months, and market-type and employment referral types will operate year-round.
This year, 77 projects including creating beautiful villages will be promoted, and a total of 14 new projects have been established such as infectious disease prevention guards in response to COVID-19, public facility cleanliness and disinfection teams, and tourism guide assistant projects.
In particular, through the infectious disease prevention guard project, visits to local senior centers and homes of elderly living alone will be conducted for indoor and outdoor disinfection and environmental cleanup activities, which are expected to greatly help prevent the local spread of COVID-19.
Additionally, to ensure participant safety in response to COVID-19 and cold wave preparedness, working hours will be divided into morning shifts (10:00?13:00) and afternoon shifts (13:00?16:00), dispersing or minimizing the number of workers.
The city's own projects will be conducted for three months from March 2 to the end of May in the first half of the year, and for three months from June 1 to the end of September (with a break during the hot summer in August) in the second half.
