Police and KakaoT Collaborate for 'Rapid Missing Person Discovery'... Taxi Driver's Description Delivered via App
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] 'Kakao T' and the police are joining forces to quickly locate missing dementia patients and children.
The National Police Agency and Kakao Mobility announced on the 14th that they have expanded the 'Cooperation system for the rapid discovery of missing persons through Kakao T taxis,' which had been used since March 2016 in some areas including the Gyeonggi region, to nationwide coverage.
This cooperation system aims to quickly find missing persons through collaboration with 230,000 Kakao T taxi drivers, accounting for 85% of taxi drivers nationwide.
When a missing person case occurs, the National Police Agency determines the target area based on the case details and situation, then sends the missing person's description to Kakao Mobility. Kakao Mobility then sends a broadcast message to Kakao T taxi drivers in the designated area as requested by the police.
The police plan to express gratitude, including rewards, to taxi drivers who contribute to finding missing persons through decisive tips, encouraging active cooperation from taxi drivers.
