Preventing Safety Accidents at Construction Sites and Old Buildings in Advance... 17 Building Inspectors to Conduct Regular Patrols for a Tight Safety Net
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Jungnang-gu (Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) operates a neighborhood safety guardian called the ‘Construction Safety Officer’ to ensure safety at construction sites.
The district runs the ‘Construction Safety Officer’ program to prevent potential safety accidents at construction sites and aging buildings in advance and to enable immediate dispatch to the site in case of emergency accidents.
The ‘Construction Safety Officer’ carries out various activities related to construction safety, including ▲ regular patrols of disaster-vulnerable and aging facilities ▲ urgent repair and reinforcement of hazardous facilities (such as fences and retaining walls) where collapse accidents have occurred or urgent maintenance is needed ▲ support for recovery resources in case of emergency disasters caused by heavy rain or heavy snow.
In addition, they also receive complaints from residents, inspect hazardous facilities, and provide repair and consulting services, which is expected to result in high satisfaction among residents.
In particular, to ensure more thorough safety management, the district has expanded the number of Construction Safety Officers from 20 to 27, demonstrating its commitment to meticulous safety inspections and stricter safety management at construction sites.
Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “We expect that the operation of the Construction Safety Officers will strengthen regional construction safety and daily life safety,” adding, “We will continue to do our best to protect the safety of residents and make Jungnang a safe place for all.”
The district also offers free construction consultations for residents.
Consultations are held on weekdays from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Construction Department on the 2nd floor of the district office, and are available to all Jungnang-gu residents.
