Gwangju Dong-gu Partially Abolishes Support Obligation Criteria for Basic Livelihood Security Recipients
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 13th that, in accordance with the Ministry of Health and Welfare's 2nd Comprehensive Plan for Basic Livelihood Security, it has partially abolished the support obligation criteria for basic livelihood security living allowances for elderly (65 years and older) and single-parent households starting this month.
With the abolition of the support obligation criteria for living allowances for elderly and single-parent households, recipients can now receive living allowance support as long as they meet their own income and property criteria, even if they have a support obligor.
However, if the support obligor's income exceeds an annual income of 100 million KRW or property exceeds 900 million KRW (excluding financial assets), the support obligor criteria will continue to apply.
This year, the selection criteria for recipients of the Basic Livelihood Security System increased by 2.68% in median income, with the maximum living allowance for a four-person household set at 1,462,000 KRW.
