On the 13th, the Office for Government Policy Coordination held the '1st 2050 Carbon Neutrality Task Force (TF) Meeting' chaired by Koo Yoon-cheol, the head of the office.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ministry of Education, Ministry of Science and ICT, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, Ministry of Employment and Labor, Ministry of Health and Welfare, Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, Ministry of SMEs and Startups, Financial Services Commission, and Korea Forest Service.
During the meeting, they reviewed the plan to establish the '2050 Carbon Neutrality Scenario' and the implementation tasks of the '2050 Carbon Neutrality Promotion Strategy.' They also discussed promotional measures to raise public awareness about a carbon-neutral society.
The Office for Government Policy Coordination stated, "The '2050 Carbon Neutrality Scenario,' including sectoral reduction plans, is scheduled to be prepared by the first half of this year (end of June). Regardless of the scenario, implementation tasks such as strengthening the institutional foundation that can be promoted will be accelerated within the first half of the year."
Head Koo emphasized, "It is important to promptly establish the '2050 Carbon Neutrality Scenario' and to carry out the '2050 Carbon Neutrality Promotion Strategy' without any setbacks."
He added, "In the policy implementation process, it is necessary to closely cooperate and communicate not only with the public but also with the industry, civic and social organizations, and experts to build consensus on '2050 Carbon Neutrality' and to encourage participation and practice from all members of society.
