Damyang-gun Extends Temporary Emergency Welfare Support System for COVID-19 Until March
[Damyang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Jeonnam Damyang-gun (Governor Choi Hyung-sik) announced on the 13th that it will expand and extend the operation of the ‘Temporary Emergency Welfare Support System’ to assist households in crisis due to COVID-19 until March 31.
Emergency welfare support is a system that quickly provides welfare services such as livelihood, medical, and housing support to those facing crisis situations such as income reduction or business suspension/closure.
The eligibility criteria have been expanded from the existing property standard of 101 million KRW to 170 million KRW or less, and the financial asset deduction ratio standard has been raised from 65% to 150% of the median income (7.7 million KRW or less for a single-person household).
Recipients of other legal supports such as National Basic Livelihood Security recipients and unemployment benefit recipients are excluded.
A county official said, “We have relaxed the criteria to help residents struggling due to COVID-19,” adding, “We will do our best to actively identify and support households in crisis who have difficulty maintaining their livelihoods.”
