The Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Federation of SMEs announced on the 12th that they have launched the "Really Good SME Platform" (gsmb.mss.go.kr) and will operate it on a trial basis for one month.
The website provides information on 30,000 excellent SMEs recognized for their expertise, excellence, and growth potential by the government, local governments, and public institutions.
Despite ongoing difficulties in the job market, it has been challenging for job seekers to find excellent jobs that meet their expectations, leading to the so-called "mismatch phenomenon." In surveys conducted by the Korea Federation of SMEs in March and July last year targeting young job seekers, 60.5% of respondents said it was difficult to obtain information on SME jobs, including finding excellent SMEs.
The Korea Federation of SMEs explained that the newly established platform will help resolve this mismatch phenomenon and assist young job seekers in discovering excellent SMEs.
To build the "Really Good SME" database, the Ministry of SMEs and Startups and the Korea Federation of SMEs collected information on approximately 110,000 participating companies from 100 certification and recognition programs such as Inno-Biz and Global Small Giant operated by the government and local governments.
Additionally, they gathered information on about 17,500 companies with excellent financial performance in five areas including growth and profitability, totaling over 120,000 companies. Ultimately, they established a database of about 30,000 companies that meet six qualification criteria such as credit rating (BB- or higher) and turnover rate (average turnover rate below 20% in the last three months).
In particular, the platform is designed to display desired companies on a map and allow users to search based on preferred conditions such as corporate culture, job characteristics, and working conditions.
At the launch ceremony, Park Young-sun, Minister of SMEs and Startups, said, "I hope the Really Good SME Platform will serve as a connector to facilitate communication between young people and SMEs struggling with job seeking and hiring difficulties due to COVID-19," adding, "We will continuously reflect the demands of young job seekers."
