[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] The police have acknowledged the embezzlement charges against Ki Young-ok, former director of Gwangju FC and father of former national soccer player Ki Sung-yong, and have sent the case to the prosecution.
The Gwangju Western Police Station announced on the 12th that it recently sent Ki Young-ok, former director of Gwangju FC, and two club officials to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment on charges of embezzlement.
Ki, the former director, is accused of withdrawing and using 330 million won from the club's account during his tenure as director of Gwangju FC and later repaying it.
The Gwangju City Audit Committee confirmed during a special audit of Gwangju FC in August last year that Ki had privately misappropriated the club's budget. The department responsible for receiving the audit results requested a police investigation into Ki.
