"Reducing Simple Task Time" LG Uplus Cuts 110,000 Hours Annually Through 'Digital Transformation'
[Asia Economy Reporter Joesulgina] LG Uplus has succeeded in reducing more than 110,000 hours annually spent on simple and repetitive tasks through customer-centric digital transformation (DX). This is part of a company-wide digital innovation to change the way of working.
On the 12th, LG Uplus announced that it is accelerating digital innovation by converting manually written work information at network sites into digital form and improving work efficiency through robotic process automation (RPA). The time saved from simple and repetitive tasks amounts to 110,000 hours annually.
Previously, at network sites, workers had to take notes and then input the information into the system as a follow-up task. However, LG Uplus distributed development tools last year that can replace manual tasks with a smartphone application, which is now being utilized in work.
Robotic automation is also being expanded company-wide. They have discovered best practices such as pre-identifying road excavation work information to respond to faults in underground lines and automatically verifying supporting documents for construction payment settlements with partner companies to reduce overtime hours. In the corporate sector, applying RPA to sales support tasks saved 19,000 hours annually within one year.

LG Uplus is also spreading the results of in-house RPA adoption to affiliates such as LG HelloVision. They plan to expand events that enhance employees' RPA capabilities, such as internal online competitions and hackathons. Kwon Junhyuk, head of LG Uplus NW Division, said, "We will accelerate digital innovation across network work sites and office tasks to catch two rabbits: improving work efficiency and quality."
