Chayoungsoo, Jeonnam Provincial Assembly Member, Elected as 6th President of Korea University Weightlifting Federation
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] Jeonnam Provincial Council announced on the 11th that Assemblyman Cha Young-su (Gangjin 1, Democratic Party of Korea) was elected as the 6th president of the Korea University Weightlifting Federation through the executive general meeting of the Korea University Weightlifting Federation.
Former weightlifting athlete Assemblyman Cha Young-su previously served as the 5th president of the Korea University Weightlifting Federation, and in 2009, as the general director of weightlifting at the World Championships, he led athlete Jang Mi-ran to a world record. He also contributed to achieving an overall 3rd place at the 2014 World Championships in Chiang Mai, Thailand, where he participated as the team leader.
Although the ‘2020 World University Weightlifting Championships’ was canceled due to COVID-19, Assemblyman Cha was recognized for his significant contributions to the development of weightlifting in Korea, including successfully attracting the event to Gangjin County, and was evaluated as the right person to lead the Korea University Weightlifting Federation, securing reappointment.
