Worker Trapped and Killed in Logistics Equipment at Yeosu National Industrial Complex
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Chunsu] A worker belonging to a subcontractor at a business site in Yeosu National Industrial Complex, Jeollanam-do, died after getting caught in logistics equipment.
The accident site is known as the place where a non-regular worker fell to their death 2 years and 5 months ago, raising urgent calls for accident prevention measures.
According to Yeosu Fire Station on the 11th, at around 7:55 PM the previous day, A (33), a mechanical maintenance worker belonging to a subcontractor at a bituminous coal storage company in Nakpo-dong, Yeosu Industrial Complex, Yeosu City, was caught in coal transportation equipment.
The fire authorities dispatched a rescue team to the scene and pulled A out of the equipment at around 10:32 PM, but A, who was severely injured, was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest and unfortunately passed away at around 11:42 PM while receiving emergency treatment.
A was working in pairs with one colleague inspecting machinery when the accident occurred. The colleague was the first to witness the accident and informed the company, which then requested rescue from the 119 emergency center.
The police and labor authorities are investigating the accident circumstances, including whether safety regulations were followed, by questioning company officials.

At the same business site, in August 2018, a non-regular worker in their 40s fell about 3 meters to the floor from a running conveyor belt and died.
