The city announced on the 8th that it has started construction to install an outdoor stage and sports facilities in the Dodong area, investing 2 billion KRW to provide balanced access to cultural and sports facilities, which had been concentrated in Pyeonggeo and Chilam-dong.
The outdoor stage, with a capacity of 800 seats, received river occupancy permission from the Busan Regional Land Management Office last year and began construction in December. The project is scheduled to be completed by April and will be used for various performances and events starting in May.
The Hadae riverside outdoor stage will be designed with a nature-friendly concept and waterfront space, similar to the wooden deck stage, membrane structure, terraced wooden deck seating using embankments, and accessible walkways for the disabled found at the Namgang outdoor stages in Pyeonggeo-dong and Chilam-dong.
In addition, to promote leisure activities and health for Dodong residents, construction has also started on sports facilities such as a park golf course and an inline skating rink at the Hadae riverside.
The Hadae riverside had been a space rarely visited by residents due to poor cultural and sports facilities, monotonous exercise equipment, and concerns about safety and aesthetics.
The city established a plan to develop sports facilities to utilize the beautiful natural scenery of the Namgang and the riverside area as a leisure space for residents.
Park golf, unlike regular golf, is a sport that can be enjoyed lightly at a nearby park with low cost, making it accessible to children, seniors, families, couples, and friends, and is expected to contribute to citizens' health and welfare.
The inline skating rink will be designed with a track that incorporates variations and curves instead of a simple circular track, creating a space where users can experience unique fun, and is expected to become a healthy leisure space for youth and local residents.
Jinju Mayor Jo Gyu-il stated, “We hope that the creation of an outdoor performance venue and sports facilities at the Hadae riverside will benefit the health and cultural sports life of Dodong residents,” and added, “Our city will also significantly expand waterfront cultural spaces along the Namgang riverside from Jinyanggyo to Geumsangyo bridges to transform the eastern area into a space for citizens’ rest and healing.”
