Gwangju City Launches Full-Scale Training Program for Public Officials
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] The Gwangju Metropolitan City Civil Service Training Institute announced on the 8th that it will officially launch civil servant training this year, starting with the 26th Mid-level Executive Leader Course held on the 4th and the 1st New Appointee Candidate Training Course to be held on the 18th.
This year’s training is planned to operate a total of 243 courses, 791 sessions, targeting 24,998 participants. Among these, in-person training consists of 70 courses, 158 sessions, and 4,448 participants, while cyber training includes 173 courses, 633 sessions, and 20,550 participants.
The training focused on enhancing civil servants’ job expertise to ensure the creation of administrative achievements for building a ‘just and prosperous Gwangju’ without wavering despite the COVID-19 situation.
Additionally, the curriculum was strengthened with courses that contribute to effectively responding to changes in the administrative environment and field-centered professional education.
To this end, courses related to the 4th Industrial Revolution such as artificial intelligence, drones, and big data were reorganized and arranged in line with changes in the policy environment, along with national and city policy tasks including Green New Deal, decentralization, income-led growth, Gwangju-type jobs, and proactive administration.
Furthermore, new or supplemented training was introduced in budget accounting, public language, construction technology, and social welfare fields to enhance the basic practical skills of new appointees. To improve expertise in special job fields, new courses in government public project competitions and interviewer competency were added alongside existing special judicial police and labor fields.
In particular, to improve the abilities and qualities necessary for job performance and field-centered problem-solving skills, the competency education and evaluation task development prepared since last year will be officially incorporated into the curriculum starting this year.
Moreover, stress relief and healing courses were opened for civil servants exhausted by the increased workload due to COVID-19, and the number of video and cyber training sessions was greatly expanded to ensure stable flexible training operation according to the ‘social distancing’ level.
