Gwangju Nam-gu to Establish Five 'Dahamtgae Care Centers' This Year
Goal to Establish Regional Care Systems... Venue Open Recruitment Until the 31st
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Byeong-nae) announced on the 7th that it will actively promote a project aiming to establish five Dahamkke Care Centers to strengthen the community-centered care system and alleviate childcare concerns for children of dual-income families in the Year of the Ox.
Dahamkke Care Centers are facilities that provide care services to children outside of regular elementary school hours according to the Child Welfare Act, and are installed and operated by local government heads.
Nam-gu is conducting a public recruitment for installation sites for five Dahamkke Care Centers until the 31st of this month.
When establishing a Dahamkke Care Center, remodeling costs and equipment purchase expenses will be supported once initially, and personnel and operating costs can be supported annually.
To attract a Dahamkke Care Center, the site must have a dedicated area of at least 66㎡.
This is to secure necessary spaces for the care center operation, including play areas, offices, kitchens, and restrooms.
Nam-gu aims to build Dahamkke Care Centers distributed by zones such as Wolsan-Baegun area, Sajik-Yangrim-Bangnim area, Bongseon area, Juwol-Jinwol area, and Hyochon district through the public recruitment of installation sites.
In particular, based on the population ratio by zone, the centers will be prioritized in areas with a high proportion of elementary school students to maximize the operational effectiveness of the Dahamkke Care Centers.
A Nam-gu official stated, “As dual-income families increase due to diversification of social activities, the importance of care communities is emphasized,” adding, “We will do our best in the project to establish Dahamkke Care Centers to revitalize care communities.”
