Na Kyung-soo, President of SK General Chemical, "The Plastic Waste Crisis is an Innovation Opportunity for the 'Green Business'"
[Asia Economy Reporter Hwang Yoon-joo] Na Kyung-soo, President of SK General Chemical, stated in his New Year's address on the 7th, "The environmental issues and crisis surrounding waste plastics present an opportunity to transform SK General Chemical's business into a green business."
President Na said, "If we establish a circular economy that recovers waste plastics and remakes them into products, we can expand the usefulness of plastics and solve environmental problems caused by plastic waste."
He continued, "We must not only develop eco-friendly solution products but also concretize a circular economy business model based on technologies that can fundamentally solve plastic problems."
Earlier, in November last year, SK General Chemical held the 'Korea Packaging Forum' with stakeholders from the packaging industry, including the Korea Packaging Society and other public, private, and academic sectors.
Referring to the forum, President Na said, "I realized that social responsibility and demands regarding plastic issues have greatly increased. However, there is still a lack of consensus among stakeholders about SK General Chemical's plans to address the waste plastic environmental problems."
