According to U.S. media CNN and others, on the 6th (local time), Trump supporters broke into the Capitol building, aiming to prevent the joint session of the House and Senate to confirm Biden's victory.
They held protests throughout Washington D.C., the U.S. capital where the Congress is located, and some supporters crossed barricades to enter the Capitol building. According to CNN, the protesters broke doors inside the Capitol and shouted slogans such as "The election was stolen."
Due to this, U.S. Vice President Mike Pence, who was presiding over the joint session of the House and Senate, left his seat under protection, and some lawmakers remaining in the chamber hid under their chairs.
