Haenam-gun Secures 2.28 Billion Won for Semi-Processing Promotion Project Selection
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 6th that Matsem Agricultural Cooperative Corporation was selected as a recipient of the 2021 Food Ingredients and Semi-processed Product Promotion Project.
The food ingredients and semi-processed product industry is a food industry that produces semi-processed products and additives used as intermediate materials for finished products, excluding raw agricultural and forestry products.
This project selection is the second following the Okcheon Nonghyup peeled garlic item, and Haenam-gun secured a total project budget of 2.28 billion KRW.
Matsem Agricultural Cooperative Corporation produces semi-processed food ingredients such as ice roasted sweet potato dried slices and paste using sweet potatoes as raw materials.
It is a mid-sized company equipped with production facilities including rapid freezing and refrigeration facilities, washing, drying, and ovens, producing 750 tons of semi-processed products annually. Its sales have increased every year, recording annual sales of 3.9 billion KRW last year.
Through this project, the company has established manufacturing and processing facilities capable of producing 2,000 tons of semi-processed products annually, expanding the business in connection with sweet potato production organizations.
Additionally, it is expected to create new high added value through home meal replacements and large corporation OEMs.

A county official stated, “It is significant to be selected for a project that can increase added value through processing representative agricultural products of Haenam-gun such as sweet potatoes and garlic,” and added, “As the share of the food semi-processed product sector is gradually increasing, we will continue to make efforts to be selected for related projects in the future.”
