[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyesook] Incheon City is set to expand hydrogen refueling stations by 2025 to increase the adoption of eco-friendly future vehicles, specifically hydrogen cars.
The city announced on the 6th that it plans to operate a total of five hydrogen refueling stations this year, starting with the hydrogen station at Incheon International Airport Terminal 1, which opened on the 4th.
The Incheon Airport station, located near the Sky Garden in Unseo-dong, Jung-gu, has a capacity of 25kg/hour, capable of refueling five passenger cars per hour, allowing for a full charge of 50 to 60 hydrogen vehicles daily.
Operating hours are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on holidays; however, general vehicle refueling is not available between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. due to shuttle bus charging at Incheon Airport.
Established as part of the Ministry of Environment's private subsidy project, this station is Incheon's second hydrogen refueling station following the H Incheon station in Namdong-gu, which opened in 2019.
The city will also open the country's largest hydrogen refueling station this year at Incheon Airport Terminal 2, capable of simultaneously refueling hydrogen buses and passenger cars, and plans to operate one station each in Gajwa-dong, Seo-gu, and Sinheung-dong, Jung-gu.
Incheon City plans to increase the number of hydrogen refueling stations to 13 by 2025 and expand related infrastructure to support hydrogen vehicle adoption.
