Suncheon City Extends 50% Reduction on Agricultural Machinery Rental Fees to Support Farmers Struggling Due to COVID-19
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Suncheon City (Mayor Heo Seok) is extending the 50% discount period on agricultural machinery rental fees, which was implemented from April to December last year to alleviate the economic burden on farmers struggling due to COVID-19 and to address the shortage of rural labor, until the end of June this year.
Suncheon City operates two agricultural machinery rental centers: the Northern Agricultural Machinery Rental Center in Seungju-eup and the Southern Agricultural Machinery Rental Center in Deokwol-dong, managing a fleet of 300 agricultural machines, including 50 types of tractors and other equipment.
To provide convenience to farmers using rental agricultural machinery, a one-stop service is offered from application to transportation and on-site repair. This year, during the busy farming seasons from April to June and the harvest period from October to November, rental services will also be available on Saturdays and public holidays.
Reservations for agricultural machinery rental can be made by visiting the Suncheon Agricultural Technology Center, through the website, or by phone. Safety education on machinery operation and work methods is conducted on-site during rental.
