Chonnam National University Hospital Hosts Invitational Exhibition of Western Painter Shin Hojae
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Jeonnam National University Hospital announced on the 6th that it will hold a solo exhibition of Western painter Shin Ho-jae at the CNUH Gallery in the lobby of Hospital Building 1 until the end of this month to wish for patients' recovery and promote emotional stability.
Under the theme "RUMINATION," this exhibition will showcase about 20 abstract works featuring nature such as the sun, moon, mountains, and rivers.
In particular, the unique painting technique that simplifies the beauty of nature into abstract forms as if expressed with the bold brushstrokes of traditional Korean painting (Oriental painting) draws attention.
Among the exhibited works, "RUMINATION-East" (150cm x 70cm) seems to convey the vitality of nature to gallery visitors by depicting the sun, river, and mountains with bold brush touches.
Jang Hee-jung, director of the Yeongsan River Culture Center, explained, "The landscapes in the works are rooted in the identity of the rivers and mountains around the artist's hometown, Naju. The symmetrical sun and moon motif borrowed from the yin-yang composition, the mountains crossing the screen, and the rivers supporting the mountains, along with trees, flowers, and clouds that embody the delicacy of great nature, reveal unique Eastern symbolism."
Painter Shin Ho-jae, who graduated from Jeonnam National University College of Arts and Chosun University Graduate School of Art Education, has actively exhibited his works through over 500 group exhibitions and more than 30 invited and solo exhibitions to date.
He has also served as a judge for the Gwangju Art Exhibition, Jeollanam-do Art Exhibition, National Mudeung Art Exhibition, Korea Art Exhibition, and as a promotional advisory committee member for the Gwangju Biennale. Currently, he is the vice chairman of the Contemporary Art Division of the Korea Fine Arts Association.
