[Breaking News] Government: "3rd Wave Peak Passed, Gradual Decline... Effect of Social Distancing"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Juhyung] The government has assessed that the domestic COVID-19 'third wave' has passed its peak and entered a phase of gradual decline.
Yoon Taeho, head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasure Headquarters (CDSCH) quarantine team, stated at a regular briefing on the 6th, "The recent weekly number of domestic cases has dropped to the 800s, indicating that the current epidemic situation is in a period of gradual decline from its peak."
The average daily number of locally transmitted cases over the past week was 833.4, down from about 1,009 the previous week. In the metropolitan area, the number decreased from 708.6 to 574.4 during the same period.

Yoon emphasized, "Since the implementation of social distancing level 2.5, mobility has continued to decrease," adding, "The efforts of the public have led to the decline in cases."
