[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Songpa-gu (Mayor Park Seong-su) has established the seventh facility of the Mirae Education Center, the core institution of its self-developed education support system ‘Songpa Saem,’ which is a key project of the 7th local government administration.
The district has newly developed the existing Songpa Youth Future Center located in Ogeum-dong into the ‘Songpa Saem Mirae Education Center Ogeum Hub (hereafter Ogeum Hub).’ With a total project cost of 1 billion KRW, the center underwent remodeling for five months starting from June last year and is planned to be used as a base for the increasing number of Mirae Education Centers in the future.
The ‘Ogeum Hub’ spans three floors above ground with a total floor area of 1,620㎡ and is equipped with 32 types of fabrication laboratory (Fab Lab) equipment, which has recently gained attention.
The first floor houses a Fab Lounge and Fab Gallery, which will be used as community spaces and exhibition venues for local youth.
On the second floor, various maker equipment such as laser engravers, CNC machines, and 3D printers are available for prototyping.
Additionally, there is a Creator Studio equipped with broadcasting devices for experiencing one-person broadcasting such as on YouTube, a Photo Studio suitable for chroma key work and product photography, and a Web Studio for drawing webtoon education.
The third floor features a TED Lecture Room, inspired by TED talks operated by a nonprofit foundation in the United States. It plans to hold lectures by inviting experts from various fields or in connection with the Songpa Saem Character Library.
Moreover, an after-school elementary care space called the ‘Ogeum-dong Converged Songpa Care Center’ has been established to provide high-quality care services.

Furthermore, through the ‘Ogeum Hub,’ the district intends to link with school activities such as the free semester system and career experience programs during school hours, allowing any Songpa youth to comfortably use the facility. The operation of facilities and programs will proceed in accordance with the COVID-19 situation.
Mayor Park Seong-su stated, “With the goal of making Songpa ‘the largest school in the world,’ we are building our own specialized education support system called ‘Songpa Saem.’ We plan to expand the Mirae Education Centers, which will serve as bases for ‘Songpa Saem,’ to 15 facilities within this year to create a top-tier education city where anyone can receive the education they desire.”
