On the morning of the 4th, Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk-gu, took on the role of the daily host for the non-face-to-face opening ceremony, encouraging the 1,500 Seongbuk-gu employees who protected the health and safety of 450,000 Seongbuk residents on the front lines of the COVID-19 response in 2020. He also urged everyone to continue working diligently like an ox for the safety and happiness of Seongbuk residents in the New Year of 2021.

In order to model the government's social distancing guidelines and ensure the health and safety of employees, Seongbuk-gu conducted a live non-face-to-face opening ceremony for 10 minutes starting at 9 a.m. on the 4th.
All departments of the district office, 20 community service centers within the area, and 1,500 Seongbuk-gu employees working at related organizations participated in the non-face-to-face opening ceremony by listening to the broadcast from their respective seats.
Lee Seung-ro, mayor of Seongbuk-gu, who served as the daily host, began the broadcast with a message of gratitude and respect to the Seongbuk-gu employees who made every effort to protect the health and safety of 450,000 Seongbuk-gu residents on the front lines of COVID-19 response in 2020.
The mayor encouraged, “Although social, cultural, and economic changes are rapidly progressing due to COVID-19 in 2021, we will move forward without fear thanks to the strength of 1,500 Seongbuk-gu employees who have sincerely performed the role of local government closest to residents' lives even in times of crisis and discovered policies that resonate with daily life, winning more than 20 external awards.”
He also concluded the broadcast with a request, “In the new year of 2021, the Year of the Ox, let us work diligently like an ox for the health and happiness of 450,000 Seongbuk-gu residents.”
