Governor Kim first visited the National 3.15 Democratic Cemetery to honor the noble spirit of the democratic martyrs, offering flowers and incense. In the guestbook, he wrote, "We overcame the crisis of democracy through the March 15th Movement. With the power of the residents, we will overcome the COVID-19 crisis and open a greater Gyeongnam, a greater future."
Next, Governor Kim visited the Changwon Memorial Tower, which enshrines the spirit tablets of patriotic martyrs from Gyeongnam, and silently prayed to comfort their souls.
In the guestbook, he left the message, "Your sacrifice and dedication protected Gyeongnam. Together with the residents, we will overcome today's crisis and open a greater Gyeongnam, a greater future," reaffirming his commitment to the New Year's provincial administration.
Meanwhile, this year's visit was conducted solo without the attendance of Vice Governors and senior officials, unlike previous years, to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). Afterwards, Governor Kim moved to the provincial office and replaced the opening ceremony with a New Year's greeting to employees via a non-face-to-face video conference.
