At the 'Live Online New Year's Ceremony' held on the 4th at the KT East Building in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, CEO Koo stated, "Unlike ordinary large corporations, KT is a company that must take the lead when the nation and society face difficulties." About 50 employees attended the ceremony along with Choi Jang-bok, the labor union chairman. The ceremony was broadcast live to all KT Group employees through the group's internal broadcasting channel, KBN.
CEO Koo emphasized KT's sense of responsibility and mission. He said KT must consider what it can do for individuals, small business owners, and companies struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He also added that how KT spends this year will determine the future of the KT Group.
The New Year's ceremony was held under the theme "Digico (Digital Platform Company) Created Together by All of Us." CEO Koo announced that KT is ready to take on the challenge as a digital platform company. He explained that it is time to challenge new businesses such as media and content, robotics, and bio healthcare with the competitiveness of artificial intelligence (AI), big data, and cloud. He also cited "customer-centric thinking" and "changes in work methods" as key management keywords.
CEO Koo Hyun-mo said, "It is KT's destiny to lead changes in customers' lives and innovations in other industries, contributing to the development of the Republic of Korea," and emphasized, "KT must boldly and firmly transform from a traditional telecommunications operator into a digital platform company."
