74 New COVID-19 Cases in Gwangju on the 3rd, Including 6 Overnight, Highest Ever Recorded
65 Cumulative Confirmed Cases from Hyojeong Nursing Hospital over 2-3 Days
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Overnight, 6 additional COVID-19 cases related to nursing hospitals and nursing homes were confirmed in Gwangju Metropolitan City.
According to Gwangju City on the 4th, as of midnight the previous day, 6 people were confirmed positive, including 3 related to Hyojeong Nursing Hospital and 3 related to Evergreen Nursing Home, classified as Gwangju cases 1206 to 1211.
Gwangju cases 1206, 1207, and 1211 are related to Hyojeong Nursing Hospital. Among them, cases 1206 and 1207 were confirmed through anonymous testing at a temporary screening clinic.
Since the 2nd, 65 people including care workers, nurses, staff, and inpatients have been confirmed positive within two days, linked to Hyojeong Nursing Hospital as the infection chain.
Cases related to Evergreen Nursing Home, where a chain infection has been occurring since last month, are Gwangju cases 1208 to 1210. All of them tested positive before being released from self-quarantine.
Thus, the number of new confirmed cases on the 3rd totaled 74, including the previously announced 68. This is a new record, surpassing the previous highest of 39 cases on August 26.
