Justice Party "Kang Eun-mi Stops Fasting After Hospital Transfer...Strong Condemnation of Major Two Parties"
[Asia Economy Reporter Wondara] Kang Eun-mi, the floor leader of the Justice Party, who was transported to the hospital, has decided to temporarily suspend her hunger strike.
Jung Hojin, the chief spokesperson of the Justice Party, said in a briefing on the 3rd, "The medical staff at Green Hospital strongly recommended that Floor Leader Kang, who was transported to the hospital on the 23rd day of her hunger strike, stop the strike," adding, "Following the medical staff's recommendation, Floor Leader Kang has decided to suspend her hunger strike starting today."
He continued, "Once her health recovers, Floor Leader Kang Eun-mi plans to continue her sit-in protest, and she will also continue her legislative activities to ensure the enactment of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act within this extraordinary session of the National Assembly."
Spokesperson Jung said, "The bereaved families, Kim Misook and Lee Yonggwan, along with Executive Director Lee Sangjin, are continuing their hunger strike today as well. It is the 24th day of their hunger strike," adding, "The medical staff are deeply concerned about the health conditions of the three. Nevertheless, they are enduring the pain with a desperate will to see the law enacted without compromising its purpose."
Spokesperson Jung criticized, "While our party's Floor Leader Kang was taken to the hospital and the three have been on hunger strike for nearly a month, the two major parties have spent the New Year holidays in warm places and have yet to agree on the legislative schedule for the enactment of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act." He added, "We strongly condemn the two major parties for bringing the situation to this point," and urged, "We strongly call on them to stop all actions that undermine the purpose of the law and to take immediate steps to ensure the enactment of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act within eight days."

Meanwhile, the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee plans to hold a subcommittee meeting on the 5th to continue discussions on the Serious Accidents Punishment Act. However, given the significant differences between the ruling and opposition parties, there is a possibility that the deadline of the extraordinary session on the 8th may be exceeded. The Justice Party is also opposing the government and Democratic Party proposals, arguing that they undermine and regress the purpose of the bill.
