Seoul Reports 366 New COVID-19 Cases Yesterday... Cumulative Total Exceeds 19,000

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] The number of new confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Seoul has continued to range between 300 and 400 daily, pushing the cumulative number of confirmed cases beyond 19,000.

As of midnight on the 31st, Seoul city announced that the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the Seoul area increased by 366 from the previous day, bringing the total cumulative confirmed cases to 19,004.

The day before, 37 new cases were confirmed at the Dongbu Detention Center in Songpa-gu, bringing the total number of cases related to this facility to 807. A new cluster infection was also confirmed at a nursing facility II in Yangcheon-gu, where 12 people (14 cumulative) tested positive in one day.

There were 13 cases (54 cumulative) at a church in Jungnang-gu, 4 cases (65 cumulative) at a facility for the disabled in Songpa-gu, 4 cases (32 cumulative) related to an elderly welfare facility in Dongdaemun-gu, and 2 additional confirmed cases each at a nursing hospital (192 cumulative) and a postpartum care center (9 cumulative) in Guro-gu.

Other cases include 187 contacts with confirmed patients, 13 contacts with confirmed patients from other cities or provinces, 1 imported case, and 83 cases under investigation for infection routes.

In Seoul, 5 additional deaths were reported the previous day, bringing the total number of deaths to 177.

So far, 10,441 people have been declared recovered and discharged, while 8,386 are currently undergoing isolation treatment.
