[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter] Kim Manki (55), a retired Army Brigadier General, has been appointed as the Director of Defense Policy at the Ministry of National Defense.
On the 31st, the Ministry of National Defense stated, "He is the right person to stably manage military situations and to promote key defense policies such as the wartime operational control transfer based on the ROK-US alliance."

Commissioned as the 43rd graduate of the Korea Military Academy, Director Kim has served as the commander of the 51st Division, head of the Doctrine Development Department at the Army Education Command, principal of the Army Infantry School, and leader of the Command and Control Team at the Joint Chiefs of Staff Operations Headquarters. The Director of Defense Policy oversees and coordinates mid- to long-term defense policies, military diplomacy, military policies related to North Korea, and defense education and training policies.
