The Korea Meteorological Administration announced that morning temperatures will be around -20 degrees Celsius in the inland and mountainous areas of Gangwon, and around -15 degrees Celsius in the inland areas of Gyeonggi, northern Chungbuk, and northern Gyeongbuk. In other central regions and southern inland areas, morning temperatures will also drop to around -10 degrees Celsius.
The morning low temperatures are expected to range from -17 to -4 degrees Celsius, and the daytime highs from -5 to 4 degrees Celsius. In Chungbuk, occasional snow will fall until tomorrow afternoon, and from daytime to nighttime, there will be places with snow flurries in southern Gyeonggi and western Gyeongsang.
Until the morning of January 1, the first day of the new year, due to the sea-air temperature difference (the difference between the lower atmosphere temperature and sea surface temperature), snow cloud bands will form over the West Sea, bringing snow to Chungnam and Jeolla provinces, and rain or snow to Jeju Island.
The western coast of Jeolla is expected to receive more than 20 cm of snow, and the mountainous areas of Jeju Island, Ulleungdo, and Dokdo are expected to receive very heavy snowfall of over 30 cm.
