Reorganization from current 1 Council, 5 Bureaus, 1 Office, 3 Officers, 37 Divisions, 14 Neighborhoods, 213 Teams to 1 Council, 6 Bureaus, 1 Office, 2 Officers, 38 Divisions, 14 Neighborhoods, 216 Teams
[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor You Deok-yeol) has carried out an organizational restructuring for efficient district administration.
The district prepared a reorganization plan to systematically operate and manage the organization in line with the post-COVID-19 era trends, and has been operating under the restructured system since January 1, 2021.
The current structure of 1 council, 5 bureaus, 1 office, 3 departments, 37 divisions, 14 neighborhoods, and 213 teams has been reorganized into 1 council, 6 bureaus, 1 office, 2 departments, 38 divisions, 14 neighborhoods, and 216 teams.
First, with increasing administrative demands related to residents' daily life and safety, such as COVID-19, household waste, and fine dust, the Safety Life Bureau was newly established.
The Safety Life Bureau was reorganized from the existing Safety Officer into the Safety Disaster Division, Smart City Division (formerly Administration Bureau), Cleaning Administration Division (formerly Welfare Environment Bureau), Clear Environment Division (formerly Welfare Environment Bureau), and Real Estate Information Division (formerly Urban Management Bureau).
As the Cleaning Administration Division and Clear Environment Division of the former Welfare Environment Bureau moved to the newly established Safety Life Bureau, the Welfare Environment Bureau was renamed the Welfare Bureau.
Additionally, in line with the times, the Planning and Budget Division established a New Deal Policy Team, the Architecture Division established a Construction Site Safety Management Team, and the Regional Health Division established an Infectious Disease Response Team.
The New Deal Policy Team conducts Korean New Deal policy contests, proposal system operations, and benchmarking tasks to effectively respond to the post-COVID-19 era in accordance with government policies.
The Construction Site Safety Management Team manages safety at private construction sites, operates a special account for construction safety, and reviews technical matters during building permits and construction starts, fostering a safe, people-centered architectural culture.
In particular, to respond efficiently to COVID-19, the district divided the existing Infectious Disease Management Team’s duties into the newly established Infectious Disease Response Team. The Infectious Disease Response Team handles new infectious disease responses, operates epidemiological investigation teams for confirmed cases from other districts, manages self-quarantined individuals and contacts, and operates screening clinics, undertaking systematic and professional infectious disease management and response.
