[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] The number of 'women-friendly cities' that create gender-equal policies will increase to 95 nationwide this year.
The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family announced on the 30th that it newly designated 14 local governments, including Icheon-si in Gyeonggi Province, and re-designated 7 local governments, including Bucheon-si in Gyeonggi Province, which have passed 5 years since their designation, as women-friendly cities.

The newly designated local governments signed a 'Women-Friendly City Creation Agreement' with the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family and will mutually cooperate for the creation of women-friendly cities for the next 5 years. The Ministry plans to support these local governments with policy development consulting, citizen participation groups, and training for officials.
