Gwangju Chamber of Commerce Expands 'Non-Face-to-Face Education' Amid Prolonged COVID-19 Pandemic
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] The Gwangju Chamber of Commerce and Industry announced on the 29th that it conducted in-person training combined with non-face-to-face methods on the 28th to enhance the job competencies of local workers.
Until last year, Gwangju Chamber of Commerce provided 25 general training sessions, including 8 courses on tax and accounting and 9 courses on personnel and labor, and conducted a total of 67 outreach training sessions, contributing to the improvement of job skills for about 3,600 workers and strengthening the human competitiveness of local companies.
However, this year, due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, in-person training was reduced to 15 courses, and outreach training to 57 sessions, with about 2,200 workers completing the training.
In particular, two courses essential for frontline corporate sites, “Key Issues in Personnel and Labor Management” and “Practical Accounting and Tax Processing with Expense Proof Documents by Account Item,” were converted to online training, with about 110 workers completing the courses.
As demand for non-face-to-face education increased, since September, Gwangju Chamber of Commerce has partnered with EduA Company to offer five online legally mandated training courses free of charge, enabling 19 companies and about 2,200 workers to receive training.
In response to the prolonged COVID-19 situation, not only did they promptly establish online training courses to minimize educational gaps, but they also opened customized, field-oriented training courses led by professional instructors to support small and medium-sized enterprises in strengthening their human competitiveness.
