Even the Pro-Trump New York Post Editorial: "Stop the Madness"
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] The New York Post, one of the leading pro-Trump media outlets, sharply criticized U.S. President Donald Trump for refusing to concede the presidential election.
On the 28th (local time), the New York Post featured a front-page headline reading "Mr. President... Stop the Madness" along with a photo of President Trump. The subtitle read, "You lost the election ? How to preserve your legacy."
On the same day, the New York Post also published an editorial stating, "We are one week away from a very important moment for the next four years of our country," and urged, "You must give up for your sake and the nation's."
The editorial mentioned the results of the recount in two Wisconsin counties, conducted by the Trump campaign at a cost of $3 million (approximately 3.3 billion KRW), which showed the gap with President-elect Joe Biden widening. It emphasized, "You have the right to investigate the election, but these efforts have found nothing."
It further condemned Sidney Powell, who was expelled from the campaign's legal team for promoting election conspiracy theories, calling her a "crazy person," and criticized former White House National Security Advisor Michael Flynn, who mentioned martial law after receiving a pardon from President Trump, saying it was tantamount to treason.
The editorial stated, "We understand your anger over the election loss, but continuing down this path is ruinous," and added, "Speaking as a newspaper that supports you, if you want to strengthen your influence and lay the groundwork for a future comeback, you need to turn your anger into something productive."
It then urged focusing on the Georgia Senate runoff election scheduled for December 5th.
The U.S. held Senate elections alongside the presidential election on November 3rd, but in Georgia, where two seats were at stake, no candidate received a majority, necessitating a runoff.
The 100-seat Senate currently holds 50 seats for the Republicans and 48 for the Democrats.
If the Republicans win even one seat in Georgia, they can maintain the majority, but if the Democrats win both seats, the majority will shift.
The editorial said, "If the Republicans win in Georgia, it will prevent Biden from undoing your achievements," and added, "Securing the Senate means securing your legacy."
