Tesla to Start Sales in India from Next Year
The Selling Model Is Likely to Be 'Model 3'
[Asia Economy Reporter Kwon Jae-hee] American electric vehicle company Tesla will start sales in India early next year.
On the 28th (local time), Indian local media Indian Express reported this, citing Gadkari, India's Minister of Transport.
Minister Gadkari added that after Tesla begins sales, they may consider building local assembly and production plants based on consumer response.
Earlier, the Economic Times of India reported on the 26th that the first model Tesla will sell in India will be the Model 3.
Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, posted on Twitter on the 27th in response to a question about recent information on Tesla's entry plan into India, saying, "I cannot disclose specific plans, but what is certain is that sales will begin in 2021."
Major foreign media evaluated Musk's response as "confirmation of Tesla's plan to enter India in 2021."
