Gwangju City and Jeonnam Province Hold Non-Face-to-Face Consultation Meeting for Purchasing Social Enterprise Products
8 Innovative City Relocation Agencies and 25 Social Enterprises Participate
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Gwangju Metropolitan City and Jeonnam Province held a non-face-to-face consultation meeting on the 28th for online purchasing of social enterprise products.
This consultation meeting was co-hosted by Gwangju City and Jeonnam Province to revitalize the local economy, which has been depressed due to COVID-19, and to support the activation of priority purchasing of social enterprise products in the Gwangju and Jeonnam areas. It was organized by Gachikeum Social Cooperative and Jeonnam Sangsa Social Cooperative.
Prior to the event, Gwangju City and Jeonnam Province conducted a demand survey of relocated public institutions, recruited and selected participating companies, produced promotional videos for the participating companies, and provided information on products and services that local companies wish to purchase online to 16 relocated public institutions.
On the day of the priority purchasing online consultation meeting, purchasing officers from eight relocated institutions including Korea Electric Power Corporation, Korea Rural Community Corporation, and Korea Internet & Security Agency set up booths for each institution on the 5th floor of the Bitgaram Observatory at Bitgaram Lake Park in the Joint Innovation City and conducted purchase consultations with 25 social enterprises from Gwangju and Jeonnam via video conference.
Gwangju City and Jeonnam Province expect that the consultation meeting will lead to the purchase of products not only in the innovation city but also in neighboring areas.

Yoon Chang-ok, Director of the Balanced Development Policy Division of Gwangju City, and Jo Young-sik, Head of the Innovation City Support Group of Jeonnam Province, said, “We hope that the online priority purchasing consultation meeting will lead to actual priority purchasing of local products, revitalize the local economy that has been struggling due to COVID-19, and in the long term, promote coexistence and balanced development between the innovation city and neighboring areas.”
