Naver V Live Captures Fans' Hearts... Surpasses 100 Million Downloads
[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] Naver's fan platform 'V Live' has surpassed 100 million downloads.
On the 28th, Naver stated, "With advanced technological competitiveness supporting stable live performances and fan community platforms, we have established ourselves as an entertainment platform leading global untact performances."
Launched in 2015, V Live has a global user ratio of 85%, with 84% of users under the age of 24. Among global countries, usage is highest in the United States, Indonesia, and Japan, in that order.
As the untact trend has spread due to the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), V Live's usage has also increased significantly.
Compared to the previous year, the number of live performances by artists on V Live increased by 1.4 times, and the number of paid performances or fan meetings increased by 2.6 times. The number of paid content purchasers, such as for performances or membership subscriptions, also grew by 1.9 times, and purchases of virtual cheering sticks per artist increased by more than 2.2 times compared to the previous year.
Global fan activities have also become more active. The number of users newly joining channels increased by 1.5 times compared to the previous year, video plays doubled, and comments increased by 2.5 times.
V Live has developed its own broadcasting and media streaming servers to provide stable live broadcasts even in various network environments. It offers various technical supports so users can enjoy performances vividly in a digital environment. For example, it provides a 'multi-track' feature that allows viewing multiple screens, and a 'real cheering stick' feature that links offline cheering sticks with the V Live app to create effects as if produced at an actual concert venue. It also supports smart TVs for viewing on large screens.
Especially this year, with the expansion of global live broadcasts, V Live has independently built multi-content delivery networks (CDN) and server request control functions (VAM·VLive API Manager) to enhance live quality and stabilize services.
