View original image[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] GS Retail's convenience store GS25 announced on the 28th that it will launch two types of vegan (vegetarian) ready-to-eat meals.
The vegan ready-to-eat meals introduced by GS25 this time are two types: 'Vegigarden Spicy Tteokbokki' and 'Vegigarden Jjajang Tteokbokki.' These products are 'no meat,' meaning that all sauces, seasonings, and products do not contain any meat ingredients, and they have received vegan certification from the Korea Vegan Certification Institute to enhance reliability. From the receipt of raw materials to the final finished product, they are thoroughly managed through the HACCP process, and a dedicated alternative meat production line is used to fundamentally exclude the mixing of meat ingredients.
GS25 launched these vegan ready-to-eat meals to strengthen the lineup in this category in response to the trend of customers preferring ready meals as the time spent at home has increased. Through this, it is expected to provide customers with an easy experience of enjoying vegetarian food at convenience stores and to increase satisfaction among vegetarian beginners and vegetarians.
Additionally, GS25 expects to gain favorable responses from millennial and Generation Z customers who are highly interested in sustainable futures and social responsibility, such as customer health, environmental protection, and animal welfare, by using 100% plant-based ingredients.
