[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] Lee Seung-ro, Mayor of Seongbuk District, was honored with the Grand Prize in the Basic Local Government Head category at the 5th Youth Hope Awards.
Organized by the Korea Youth Foundation, the Youth Hope Awards are given to members of the National Assembly, local government heads, metropolitan council members, and basic council members who have achieved accomplishments related to the improvement of youth education, welfare, and human rights or contributed to improving the lives of young people.
The Youth Hope Awards judging committee evaluated candidates based on their contributions that directly impacted the improvement of youth lives, and the final winners were selected through an online vote by 1,000 youth selection committee members.
Mayor Lee Seung-ro of Seongbuk District was recognized for his achievements in realizing a high-level ▲‘Seongbuk-type Child-Friendly City’ policy ▲guaranteeing the right of children and youth to play ▲creating a happy educational environment through dedicated rest spaces ▲and actively promoting policies to improve youth human rights and lives, earning him the award.
In particular, this award gained additional significance as two youths who participated in various youth policies in Seongbuk District recommended Mayor Lee Seung-ro as a candidate.
Mayor Lee was highly praised for his efforts in creating a child- and youth-friendly city where young people can be happy, and for his unwavering support for out-of-school youth, contributing to the promotion of youth rights and welfare.
