Yoon Seok-yeol's Side "Preparing Main Lawsuit... Will Provide Thorough Explanation"
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol, who returned to duty following the court's decision to suspend the two-month disciplinary action, has decided to actively pursue the main lawsuit seeking cancellation of the disciplinary action.
On the 27th, Yoon's special attorney, Lawyer Lee Wankyu, stated in a press release, "We plan to prepare for the main lawsuit going forward."
Lawyer Lee also reiterated his position regarding the 'court analysis document,' which was one of the reasons for Yoon's disciplinary action. He explained that the court's judgment that the document was "highly inappropriate due to the risk of misuse" was "based on the assumption that the document would be distributed to third parties." He added that the court only mentioned the need for further examination of the circumstances of its creation, and they plan to thoroughly clarify this during the main lawsuit process.
Regarding the court's statement that there is "a possibility that obstruction of inspection misconduct has been proven," Lee said, "The court believed that a full review of the context is necessary to make a judgment," and added, "We will clarify the relationship between the Prosecutor General's command and supervisory authority, the Inspection Headquarters regulations, and the surrounding facts."
Before the court's decision to grant the injunction, some contents of the response submitted at the court's request were also disclosed. Yoon's side stated in the response, "We intend to cooperate as much as possible to ensure that the main lawsuit is concluded within four months," and "We will prepare so that all witness examinations can be conducted in a single session."
They continued, "Since Prosecutor General Yoon has about seven months left in his term, if the first trial verdict is delivered within four months, there will be sufficient time to enforce the two-month suspension from that point," and argued, "Even if the suspension is stayed, it does not mean the disciplinary action becomes meaningless."
