High Pathogenic Avian Influenza Suspected Case Occurs at Gyeongju Laying Hen Farm
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] A suspected case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (AI) has occurred at a laying hen farm in Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk Province.
The Central Avian Influenza Countermeasures Headquarters (CAC) announced on the 26th that after receiving a suspicion report of deaths from a laying hen farm in Gyeongju on the 25th, the Gyeongbuk Animal Hygiene Laboratory tested and detected the H5 type AI antigen.
Currently, a detailed examination is underway, and the determination of high pathogenicity is expected within 1 to 3 days. This farm raises about 8,000 laying hens.

The CAC immediately dispatched an initial response team to the site to control access to the farm and conduct an epidemiological investigation. In addition, movement restrictions, surveillance, and inspections are being implemented for farms within a 10 km radius.
