Prosecutors Arrest Two Officials and Indict One Without Detention Over Deletion of Data at Wolseong Nuclear Power Plant
[Asia Economy Reporter Baek Kyunghwan] The prosecution investigating allegations of economic manipulation of Wolsong Unit 1 has indicted Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy officials involved in deleting internal documents.
On the 23rd, the Criminal Division 5 of Daejeon District Prosecutors' Office (Chief Prosecutor Lee Sanghyun) arrested and indicted two ministry officials, including Director-level official A, on charges of damaging public electronic records, violating the Board of Audit and Inspection Act, and trespassing, while another Director-level official B was indicted without detention.
A and B are accused of ordering or tacitly allowing the deletion of documents related to Wolsong Unit 1 in November last year, just before the Board of Audit and Inspection requested the submission of materials. Official C was also investigated for deleting 530 related documents from the ministry office the day before a scheduled meeting with an auditor from the Board of Audit and Inspection.
