"Pay the congratulatory money, move the moving boxes"... Apartment Representative Accused of 'Security Guard Power Abuse' Sent to Prosecution
[Asia Economy Reporter Song Seung-yoon] An apartment building representative who repeatedly abused a security guard and assaulted management office staff has been referred to the prosecution.
On the 23rd, the Nowon Police Station in Seoul announced that they had sent Mr. A, a building representative of an apartment in Nowon-gu accused of coercion, to the prosecution under detention with a recommendation for indictment.
Mr. A is suspected of forcing the apartment security guard to move his and his children's moving belongings and making the guard pay congratulatory money when his child got married, among other personal matters. In addition, police investigations revealed that Mr. A made the security guard tend the apartment garden and even assaulted management office staff.
Seoul Housing & Communities Corporation (SH) also conducted an internal investigation, identified these issues, and based on violations of management regulations, notified Mr. A of contract termination and instructed him to vacate within six months.

During the investigation into Mr. A's abusive behavior, the police also uncovered evidence that six others, including another building representative and the management office chief, embezzled apartment management fees. They were reportedly involved in selecting companies related to apartment projects and handling construction payments. The police applied charges such as embezzlement against them and referred the case to the prosecution with a recommendation for indictment.
