Dongmyeong University Holds Untact Mock Convention Operation Competition
Global MICE+ Project Team Participating in Tourism Management and Hotel Management Departments Holds 7th Event This Year

As part of the Local University Specialization Project (CK-I), the 7th Mock Convention Operation Competition was held, which had been conducted face-to-face from the 1st to the 6th editions since 2014, but this time it was held as a non-face-to-face untact mock convention competition in line with the COVID-19 era.
For students of the Global MICE+ Project Group, composed of the Department of Tourism Management and the Department of Hotel Management, a call for mock convention presentation papers was held for about four weeks from the end of October, selecting a total of nine presenters who then entered the discussion phase.
The presenting teams discussed topics such as development plans for tourism leisure businesses utilizing dark tourism, the best service to enjoy at hotels called ‘Hokangs’ (hotel + vacation), and tourism trends in Korea and worldwide during the COVID-19 era.
A total of 42 people participated, including 20 members from three operation teams, 9 presenters from three presentation teams, 9 discussants from three discussion teams, and 4 student judges.
The 7th Untact Mock Convention Competition was broadcast live via YouTube video, and about 120 enrolled students watched the event through YouTube.
The awards ceremony was held together with the Global MICE Plus Project Group SNS promotional video awards and the Untact Mock Convention Operation Competition.
The 1st place in the Global MICE Plus Project Group SNS promotional video was awarded to Team 1, Department of Tourism Management student Lee Hwa-yoon; 2nd place to Team 4, Department of Hotel Management student Kim Bo-hyun; and 3rd place to Team 3, Department of Tourism Management students Kim Hye-ji, Nam Hyun-ji, Yoo Hye-jin, and Jeong So-yeon.
The 1st place in the mock convention operation competition presentation was awarded to 2nd-year Department of Tourism Management student Choi Hyo-jung. The 1st place in the operation team was awarded to the Department of Tourism Management’s Un2On team. Scholarships were given to the outstanding teams.
Director Park Hyun-ji said, “This year’s non-face-to-face untact mock convention operation competition provided students with a great opportunity to experience meeting technology changes in the COVID-19 era,” adding, “In the future, we will educate students on hybrid meeting technologies combining face-to-face and non-face-to-face formats to help their employment in response to changes in the MICE industry.”

The Global MICE+ Project Group has been holding the mock convention operation competition for the 7th year this year to enhance students’ practical MICE field skills and develop their employment capabilities through theme presentations and operations reflecting the latest trends related to MICE.
