Two Korean Civilians Working for USFK Also Test Positive for COVID-19
[Asia Economy Yang Nak-gyu, Military Specialist Reporter]Two Korean nationals working at U.S. military bases in Dongducheon and Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19).
According to the U.S. Forces Korea on the 22nd, one Korean employee working at Camp Casey, a U.S. military base in Dongducheon, tested positive for COVID-19 on the 19th. This employee last visited Camp Casey on the 13th and was classified as a close contact of a confirmed case, thus has been in self-quarantine since the 14th.
At Camp Casey, another Korean civilian employee tested positive for COVID-19 on the 14th. Additionally, a Korean civilian employee working at Camp Humphreys, a U.S. military base in Pyeongtaek, Gyeonggi Province, tested positive on the 20th. This employee last visited Camp Humphreys on the 18th.
Earlier, on the 19th, another Korean employee working at Camp Humphreys was confirmed positive for COVID-19 through testing at the Pyeongtaek Public Health Center. The additional confirmed cases who are isolating at their homes outside the base are reportedly awaiting transfer to dedicated COVID-19 treatment facilities, according to U.S. Forces Korea.

U.S. Forces Korea is conducting epidemiological investigations in cooperation with Korean health authorities and is carrying out disinfection operations at facilities inside and outside the bases recently visited by the confirmed cases. With this, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases related to U.S. Forces Korea has risen to 466.
