Beopseoryeon: "Yoon Seok-yeol Disciplinary Action Violates Constitutional Due Process"... Human Rights Commission Petition
[Asia Economy Reporter Donghoon Jeong] The civic group Action Alliance for Restoring the Rule of Law (Beopse-ryeon) filed a complaint with the National Human Rights Commission on the 22nd, arguing that the disciplinary action against Prosecutor General Yoon Seok-yeol infringed upon his fundamental rights.
On the same day, Beopse-ryeon held a press conference in front of the Human Rights Commission in Jung-gu, Seoul, stating, "The disciplinary committee was composed mostly of members appointed by Minister of Justice Choo Mi-ae, who requested the disciplinary action, which is tantamount to a predetermined conclusion." They added, "The disciplinary action by the prosecution's disciplinary committee violated the constitutional principle of due process," and announced that they have filed a complaint with the disciplinary committee.
They also claim that the deliberation results were unlawful. Beopse-ryeon stated, "Most of the decisions, such as distributing the 'Judge Document' with the intent to attack, slander, or make a joke of the judiciary, or violating the duty of political neutrality by stating 'I will serve the people after retirement,' are baseless speculations," and argued, "Issuing a two-month suspension based on these speculations, distortions, and fabricated unilateral claims clearly infringes upon Prosecutor General Yoon's right to honor and personality."
