[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A police officer in his 20s who fell into an unconscious state after being hit by a passenger car while directing traffic on his way home from work has ultimately passed away.
According to the Haeundae Police Station in Busan, Corporal A (29) died in the line of duty at 3:09 p.m. on the 21st.
Corporal A was hit by a passenger vehicle while directing traffic at an intersection in Haeundae at 6:47 p.m. on the 14th and remained unconscious for eight days.
The vehicle that struck Corporal A entered the intersection with a normal signal, and it was reported that there was no drunk driving involved.
The police plan to hold a funeral ceremony for the corporal at the Dongbaek Square of the Busan Police Agency on the morning of the 23rd, with the Busan Police Chief (acting) presiding. The police also decided to posthumously promote Corporal A, who joined in 2016 and was a fifth-year officer, by one rank.
