Gwangyang City Supports Dormitory Rental Fees for Workers at Small and Medium Enterprises in Industrial Complexes
Up to 300,000 KRW per month, benefits for 1,040 people annually
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Gwangyang City is supporting dormitory rental fees of up to 300,000 KRW per month for workers with less than five years of employment to stabilize employment through housing stability for small and medium-sized enterprise workers in industrial complexes.
When small and medium-sized business owners located in the local industrial complex rent apartments, one-room units, etc., around the industrial complex to provide as dormitories, up to 80% of the rental cost is supported, with a maximum limit of 300,000 KRW per person per month.
This project, now in its second year, has been well received by workers facing difficulties commuting, with more than 1,000 people benefiting this year alone. Through this project, the number of new hires at small and medium-sized enterprises has reached 95 this year, helping to alleviate the labor shortage in SMEs.
Additionally, various groups including youth, women, and middle-aged workers are receiving benefits evenly. According to a satisfaction survey conducted by the Gwangyang Chamber of Commerce and Industry among companies and workers who received benefits, 100% responded that they were very satisfied.
