Gwangyang City Council Approves Partial Amendment to Farmers and Fishermen Public Interest Allowance Ordinance
Assemblyman Baek Seong-ho Proposes Bill to Prevent Occupational Discrimination Against Payment Exclusion Recipients
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Hyung-kwon] Baek Seong-ho, a member of the Gwangyang City Council, proposed the "Partial Amendment Ordinance of Gwangyang City Agricultural and Fishery Public Interest Allowance Payment Ordinance" to prevent occupational discrimination against recipients of the agricultural and fishery public interest allowance. It was approved at the 3rd plenary session of the 294th meeting on the 21st.
The amendment deleted from the exclusion list those who live in the same household as public officials and employees of public institutions who were previously not paid the allowance because they belonged to certain occupational groups, allowing people living in the same household to receive the allowance.
Exclusion criteria for the agricultural and fishery public interest allowance include those with a comprehensive income amount of 37 million KRW or more outside of agriculture and fisheries, or those who have fraudulently received subsidies such as direct payments.
Assemblyman Baek stated the purpose of proposing the ordinance, saying, "I hope that the agricultural and fishery public interest allowance, which started to share the public value and social responsibility of agriculture and fisheries, will be paid equally without occupational discrimination."
