Emergence of New COVID-19 Variant in UK... Hong Kong Bans Entry of Flights from UK
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] As a new variant of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is rapidly spreading in the United Kingdom, Hong Kong has banned the entry of passenger flights from the UK.
According to Hong Kong public broadcaster RTHK on the 21st, Sophia Chan, Hong Kong Secretary for Health, announced that from midnight on the same day, all passenger flights from the UK will be banned from entering.
Secretary Chan also stated that all individuals who have stayed in the UK for more than two hours within the past 14 days will be prohibited from entering Hong Kong.
Additionally, those who have recently arrived in Hong Kong from the UK will be required to undergo a 14-day mandatory quarantine at designated hotels, and a further 7-day home quarantine will be mandatory until they test negative in an additional COVID-19 test.
